Sean Brownlee is a venture investor and company builder with more than 25 years of experience backing and scaling technology companies from early stage through IPO and acquisition.
Throughout his career, Sean has been an investor and board member of numerous technology companies that have gone on to successful public offerings and acquisitions. He was an early investor and board member at Copperleaf, which later went public, and backed Auvik Networks and Upchain through their acquisitions by Great Hill Partners and Autodesk, respectively.
Sean has invested across enterprise software, AI, cloud infrastructure, and deep technology. Prior to Defined, he was a General Partner at Rho Canada Ventures and held investment leadership roles at 3i Group and BDC Capital. He is currently Co-Founder and Managing Partner of True North Fund.
At Defined, Sean works closely with founders on strategy, financing, governance, and scaling through critical stages of company development. He holds the CFA designation and an MBA.
